about

This song was originally sung by Michal David in 1982.
He was the symbol of the 1980s pop music of communist Czechoslovakia, often compliant with the official ideological agenda.
As many Czechoslovak pop songs of that era, this was a remake of a foreign pop song: Stella Stai by Umberto Tozzi.
Czech lyrics were written by Michael Prostějovský who emigrated to West Germany the following year.
Since the message of the intergalactic traveler was ignored the first time, it had to be told again.

lyrics

~
I am bringing the message of the Third Galaxy.
You must be asking: "Where is it? Who lives there?"
A world like yours, yet a bit more magical.
Believe it or not, humans live there on more than just songs.
Tomorrow as well as before.

Jsem tady den, to se ví, že se jeden diví,
prach, bláto, kouř, je to div, že jste ještě živí.
Proč nevoní všude les nebo v městech jívy,
proč oceán špínou řek život nechá si vzít
jak v tom můžete žít.
~
I have been here for a day, no wonder that one is surprised.
Dust, mud, smoke, it is a wonder that you are still alive.
Why isn't there a forest smell all around and willows in the cities,
why does the ocean languish by the dirt of the rivers?
How can you live in this world.

Jsi v moři aut holé nic,
pouze jejich sluha,
znám spoustu krás, podívej
nebe zdobí duha,
svůj půvab má na horách taky zima tuhá
já všech se ptám,
proč si jen sami kazíte svět,
zpátky s chutí bych vzlét.
~
You are flooded by cars, you're nothing, just their slave.
I know a lot of wonders, look, there's a rainbow in the sky.
Tough winter in the mountains has its charm, too
So I ask all of you:
"Why do you destroy your world?"
I wish to take off and head back.

Znám hvězdu jasnou jak den,
jak úsměv dívek a žen všech jmen,
znám hvězdu v souhvězdí N,
snad hezčí může být jen - náš sen.
~
I know a star as bright as a day
as a smile of girls and women of all names.
I know the star of Constellation N,
more beautiful could only be our dream.

Ve třetí galaxii září,
ta moje hvězda vzdálená,
pojď blíž spolu můžem se vznést,
pojď blíž já zpátky odlétám.
~
In the Third Galaxy it shines,
my distant star.
Come closer we can take off together,
come closer I am flying back home.

Já vezu vám poselství třetí galaxie, věř,
osud váš, pokud vím, dneska hodně zlý je,
váš starý svět spoustu let nikdo neumyje,
dál rok co rok ten váš smog
vniká do vyšších sfér
a to není moc fér.
~
I am bringing the message of The Third Galaxy:
believe that your fate as of today is pretty bad,
your old world won't get cleaned for many following years,
year after year your smog
climbed higher and higher
and that is not fair.

Jsi v moři aut holé nic,
pouze jejich sluha,
znám spoustu krás, podívej
nebe zdobí duha,
svůj půvab má na horách taky zima tuhá
já všech se ptám,
přoč si jen sami kazíte svět,
zpátky s chutí bych vzlét.

I saw a lot of wonders, look
there's a rainbow in the sky.
Tough winter in the mountains has its charm, too
So I ask all of you:
"Why do you destroy your world?"
I wish to fly back home, to fly, to fly...
